As an author, Helen’s time during the pandemic allowed her time to write and publish her Memoir: I BELONG HERE. Also, as one of the pioneering authors at the inaugural New Americans Book Fair, Helen H Yee will be sharing how she blended Asian culture, bullying, and a burning desire for more, into a brave journey that challenges midwestern expectations that allowed her to embrace team sports, and later, a Taekwondo Olympic alternate and two time National Champion, which was instrumental in making peace with her heritage at the 2023 New Americans Book Fair at the Columbus Metropolitan Library, Dublin City branch on Saturday, September 23, 2023.

Helen told the New Americans Book Fair that the Young Adult, Non-Fiction/Creative Non-Fiction, Memoir, which is also lighthearted and inspirational, “is the combination of fighter training and my grandfather’s business example unlocked my confidence, and my entrepreneurial spirit led me to become a licensed massage therapist and co-found a school with my then life partner.”  

“As a Tai Chi and Qigong instructor, and Chief Financial Officer of the American Institute of Alternative Medicine for the last three decades, I have been awarded the Association of Women Martial Arts Instructors for 30+ Years of Training and Dedicatio, inducted into the Bruce Lee Martial Arts Legends Hall of Honor, served as President for the Board for the Pacific Association of Women Martial Arts, and as Executive board member for Asian American Commerce Group (AACG).”

She is an instructor of Tai Chi and Qi Gong at various martial arts and health seminars in the US and abroad.

A 1988 US Olympic Alternate Helen holds a 4th degree blackbelt in TKD and competed on the US Tae Kwon Do team. In addition to her work at AIAM, Helen serves on the Accreditation Commission of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (ACAOM) site visit team for the evaluation of acupuncture schools across the country, is an Executive Board member for the Asian American Commerce Group (AACG).

Helen currently serves on the Columbus Community Relations as a Commissioner, a Board member on the National Women’s Music Festival. She has been recognized for her achievements by The International Role Model Magazine Inc., featured in 2019 as Columbus CEO spotlight for small businesses and also awarded the 2018 Business Entrepreneurial leadership award by the Asian American Commerce Group.
